In July 2015, chiropractor Mary Yoder died within 48 hours of sudden illness—toxicology revealed lethal colchicine poisoning. An anonymous letter pointed to her son Adam, but digital forensics implicated office manager Katie Conley, sparking two trials, an overturned conviction, and an unsolved mystery that fractured her family forever. Digital forensics revealed Katie Conley accessed a Gmail account (Mr.Adam Yoder 1990) from her home IP address to purchase colchicine, ordered prepaid credit cards matching the purchase, and stored scanned documents on her phone backup. Katie's DNA was found as a major contributor on the colchicine bottle, wrapper, and under the stamp of the anonymous letter, while Adam's DNA appeared nowhere despite his name being linked to the purchase.
